The Freedom Corridor Ep1
A farmer, a refugee and the wild elephant population are locked in a battle for land, freedom and a place to call home. Part one of a two part documentary series for Channel News Asia.
The Freedom Corridor Ep1
In southern Bangladesh, the world’s largest refugee camp –with close to 1 million Rohingya refugees - is trapping wild elephants and blocking their migratory path. Lacking food in the forest, the elephants frequently raid local farms to survive. The increasing conflict with elephants is damaging relations between the Bengali, Chakma and Rohinyga communities. Can a plan by the International Union for the Conversation of Nature (IUCN) to recreate their migratory corridor ease the growing tension?
